[hiking] eaton canyon

hubs wanted me to start documenting our hiking trips so here we go!

today we took a local hike up eaton canyon in altadena. we kinda slept in, then the sun came out, so we made it very short.

time: 1 hour r/t (we didn't finish obviously)

according to hub's fitbit (a pedometer/calorie counter type of thing), we...
...took 7,517 steps
...hiked 3.28 miles
...burned 1,208 calories

i'm suspicious on the calories burned but the other stats seem believable.

eaton canyon is mostly unshaded so it's not recommended for the summer. there is absolutely no scenery whatsoever except rocks, more rocks, dirt, and more dirt. we did this trail a few years ago and got to the waterfall at the end. it's my hope to reach the waterfall again some time this year! i'm also hoping to go another season to see if it's any prettier...

fabuloso friday {7/26}

here are some things that made my week. i've decided to not have a count of 5 because, well, it makes it too forced.

+ a much needed hot pot & catchup with an old friend

+ date / tea-time with hubby

+ things i can't wait for: my birthday (also dreading it). labor day weekend. beginning of new seasons for scandal // the walking dead // white collar.

Fabuloso Friday {7/19}

this week has been pretty uninspiring. i'm hoping next week will be better!

+ h and i discovered a food truck event. he finally got to try kogi truck! "it's good but not 2-hour wait good" was his verdict. i agree.

lobsta rolls! this was pretty hefty at $12 but it was really good. worth the price? umm......

+ on a rare occasion, we went out for a weekend breakfast. i'm particular to einstein bagels because i used to go a lot in salt lake.

+ went to the gym and sweated a lot.

+ really liking this CD

+ every thursday i would think it's friday. i guess my fabuloso #5 this week is that... it's friday!!

Fabuloso Friday {7/12}

here are some things that made this week fun!

+ despicable me 2 :: the hubs and i are obsessed with this movie. or rather, the minions. we have waited for this movie for at least a year now. it did not disappoint. go watch it if you haven't already!!

+ rain today. in LA. 'nuff said.

Fab Five Friday {7/5}

+ today is my younger nephew's 8th birthday. eight!! my goodness, i can still remember the day he was born (i was in hawaii watching fireworks with friends when i received the call that my sister had gone to the hospital), the month-old party we had at my house for him, his visit to utah when he had just barely begun to walk... and now, at the blink of the eye, he's 8! geez, time sure flies.

+ july fourth bbq with family

+ i have a guest post up! well, sort of.

+ got to meet up with my high school friend/college roomate and meet her 3-month-old baby. she is such a cutie!

+ attended a baby shower and ate yummy food (it was at a tea room)

+ and lastly, the epic picture. of h and my niece. after 2 and a half months, he is finally not-so-afraid to hold her. hahaha!!

Fab Five Friday {6/28}

finally, friday! nothing really happened this week. so it'll be a quick round-up.


1. went shopping and scored 2 skirts + 2 dresses for $27.50. you can't beat that.


2. had lunch with my family last weekend. this was the lunch special - all for $9.95!

i was so stuffed afterwards.


3. i now live with this dog, teddy.

he has taken to leaping at me when i get home from work.

4. lunch in paris was a delicious read. it made me want to go to paris and eat good food.

5. i enjoyed watching this this week. although to be honest, i was never a big fan of either.

i promise next week will be more eventful (or rather, busy...)!

I'm Back!!! Plus Fab Five Friday {6/21}

i can't believe i've neglected this blog for so long. six months to be exact!! so much has happened in my time away that it's incredulous. but, in the end, they turned out (or will turn out) all okay.

here are the things I've been obsessed with in the last (few) weeks:

1. scandal :: if you've watched it, you know what i'm talking about. if you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for??

2. some much needed catching-up with some old friends, even if they were via texts and emails ::


3. these belvita breakfast biscuits :: they tastes more like cookies (to me) and they keep me quite full in the morning when i drink water or tea with them. not the mmm-i'm-so-stuffed-i-can't-eat-another-bite full, but more like the i'm-okay-i-can-wait-another-hour-or-two-until-lunch full. they did nothing for my husband though so maybe it depends on the person. i like them cuz they take the work out of planning, buying, and making breakfast. i just keep a box at work and eat it when i get there! (alternated with other foods)

4. django unchained :: an over-the-top, somewhat-gory flick that i ended up liking more than i thought i would. the husband enjoyed it too. and after having watched scandal, i like kerry washington a lot more than if i had watched this movie first, i think.

5. these flats my friend frickin' gave me! they are now one of my most favorite pair of shoes. they are comfy, they are cute, and they have leopard print on them. LEOPARD PRINT! need i say more?

so i will do my best (again) to keep this blog going. it's harder where i live now because i don't really have my own desk/table anymore, and with everything going on, time feels really limited. everyday seems like a struggle sometimes but some days are better than others. we'll see how it goes ;)
